Arsenal forward Olivier Giroud has been ruled out of action for about four months after having surgery on a broken leg.
The 27-year-old, who picked up an injury during the Gunners’ 2-2 draw against Everton at Goodison Park on Saturday.
“Giroud had surgery today and from a broken tibia,” said the manager Arsene Wenger. “He will be out for three to four months, on the competition side”
The France international, who scored twice in the 2014 World Cup. He joined Arsenal in 2012 from Montpellier and has made 38 Premier League appearances last season, scoring 16 goals.
The North Londoners are already without Theo Walcott and Mikel Arteta, both are also recovering from a injury.
This news could force Wenger to dive into the transfer market as he has option with just Lukas Podolski and Yaya Sanogo.
According to the Independent, Manchester United forward Danny Welbeck is reportedly interested in a move to Emirates this summer.
