Tottenham Hotspur’s hopes of offloading Richarlison have suffered another blow after the Brazilian forward turned down a proposed move to Vasco da Gama.

According to TEAMtalk, Spurs are becoming increasingly exasperated with the 28-year-old following the latest collapse in a string of failed exit attempts. Personal terms proved the sticking point in the Vasco da Gama discussions, leaving Tottenham with few immediate options as they weigh up a potential sale in the New Year, alongside the possibility of extending his current deal.

Another Deal Falls Through for Spurs

Richarlison arrived from Everton in 2022 for a fee in the region of £60 million but has never truly nailed down a regular starting berth in north London. With his contract entering its final year, Tottenham had hoped to engineer a departure before the summer window shut. A switch back to Everton reportedly broke down over wages, while whispers of Saudi interest have yet to translate into a concrete offer, despite the Saudi market remaining open until 12 October.

Talks with Turkish outfit Trabzonspor also stalled once the European window closed, and reports earlier suggested the striker had little appetite for a return to Brazilian football anyway — a stance now confirmed by the breakdown in Vasco da Gama negotiations.

January Exit Now Looks Likely

Sky Sports understands Richarlison is expected to remain at Spurs until at least January, with Roberto De Zerbi already omitting him from his Premier League plans. That leaves the forward facing months on the periphery.

A short-term contract extension, giving Tottenham the option to add a further year, could be a shrewd move here — it would protect his resale value and stop him walking away for nothing next summer or agreeing a pre-contract elsewhere in January. Either way, this increasingly looks like a relationship that has run its course, and a January exit feels less like speculation now and more like the inevitable next step.
