Liverpool have reportedly held discussions over a potential deal for Inter Milan’s Aleksandar Stankovic, according to TEAMtalk.

The 21-year-old came through the Nerazzurri’s academy but found first-team opportunities limited. He subsequently spent time on loan at FC Luzern to gain regular football before sealing a permanent switch to Club Brugge last summer.

A Breakout Campaign in Belgium

Stankovic thrived during his spell in the Belgian top flight, contributing to 12 goals across 49 outings in all competitions as Club Brugge lifted the league title. His performances also earned him recognition at international level, with the Serbian now a regular for his national side.

Impressed by his progress, Inter opted to re-sign their academy graduate this summer. Stankovic, whose father Dejan is an Inter Milan icon, has reportedly drawn interest from both Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur, though the pair are said to have turned their attention elsewhere.

Liverpool’s Interest Explained

Liverpool are understood to have asked about Stankovic’s situation while finalising Curtis Jones’s move to Inter Milan. Despite completing that sale, the Reds chose not to pursue a deal for the midfielder at this stage, with their focus instead shifting towards strengthening the wide areas following Mohamed Salah’s exit as a free agent.

That said, sources suggest Arne Slot’s side could revisit their interest next year as they look to freshen up midfield options. Transfermarkt values Stankovic at roughly £27m, though with a contract running until 2031, Inter are under no pressure to negotiate.
