Hall emerged as United’s top target, and sources suggest a formal offer was lined up before Newcastle firmly shut the door on any negotiations.

The Magpies have since moved to tie Hall down with a fresh long-term contract, underlining how highly he’s rated on Tyneside. Signed from Chelsea in a £28 million deal in 2024 following a prior loan spell, Hall has gone on to make 107 appearances for Newcastle across all competitions.
