Manchester United keen on Ansu Fati

Manchester United are reportedly monitoring the progress of Barcelona forward Ansu Fati, according to Spanish publication Sport.

Despite being considered one of La Liga’s most talented young players, the 20-year-old has struggled to regain his top form following a prolonged injury and has dropped in the lineup.

The Spain international has only started seven top flight matches, scoring three goals so far this season.

Although Barca head coach Xavi has expressed confidence in the youngster, who is currently behind Robert Lewandowski, Ousmane Dembele, and Raphinha in the pecking order.

Sport reports that the Red Devils are targeting Fati following their failed attempt to acquire Frenkie de Jong last year.

Fati is on United’s wish list and they plan to take advantage of Barcelona’s financial difficulties. The Catalan giants are expected to sell some of its top players this summer to improve their financial situation.

Fati’s current market value is estimated at approximately £45 million by Transfermarkt. However, his contract with Barcelona includes a €1 billion release clause and extends until 2027, making it unlikely that any move will occur in the upcoming summer.

In order for Manchester United to successfully negotiate a transfer, they would need to offer a significantly higher amount than £45 million to persuade Barcelona into a deal.
