Everton Eye Federico Gatti as Defensive Reinforcement Ahead of Summer Window
Everton are reportedly ‘very interested’ in signing Juventus centre-back Federico Gatti, according to Italian outlet Tuttosport — and it’s easy to see why the Toffees are keen.
Why Gatti Makes Sense for Everton
The 27-year-old has racked up 134 appearances for the Bianconeri since arriving from Frosinone in 2022, proving himself a reliable Premier League-ready defender. However, with Spalletti preferring Kalulu, Bremer, and Kelly at the back, Gatti has been pushed firmly to the fringes — limited to just 11 Serie A starts this season before a broken fibula compounded his misery.

For Everton, the logic is clear. David Moyes has Tarkowski, Keane, O’Brien, and Branthwaite on paper, but Branthwaite’s recurring injury issues have exposed a serious lack of depth. The 23-year-old England international has spent much of this campaign sidelined, casting real doubt over his long-term reliability.
Stiff Competition for the Toffees
It won’t be straightforward. Nottingham Forest and AC Milan have both seen bids knocked back after failing to meet Juventus’ £21m asking price, while Spurs are also sniffing around. Everton had an earlier approach rebuffed too, but are reportedly ready to return in the summer.
Poor Form Makes Gatti a Priority
Saturday’s 2-1 defeat at West Ham — Moyes’ second consecutive Premier League loss — only underlines how desperately Everton need defensive reinforcements. A commanding 6ft 2in ball-playing centre-back like Gatti could be exactly the profile they need heading into next season.
At £21m, he represents solid value. The question is whether Everton can move fast enough.
