Chelsea have reportedly joined the list of clubs wanting to sign Barcelona midfielder Frenkie De Jong amidst interest from Manchester United, according to Fichajes.
De Jong is reportedly a transfer target for Chelsea next season, Although Manchester United have been linked with the Dutchman, recent reports suggest that the Blues are now vying for his signature.
Since the new co-owner Todd Boehly’s arrival, Chelsea have spent extravagantly on young players from all over the world and seems prepared to do so again for the upcoming season.
After joining Barcelona from Ajax in the summer of 2019, the midfielder has been impressive, making over 150 appearances for the Spanish giants and contributing to 34 goals.
The Netherlands international has been in excellent form for Xavi’s side this season, featuring in 32 games and delivering consistent performances. Although his contract with the Catalan giants runs until 2026.
De Jong is reportedly uninterested in leaving Barca. Nonetheless, Chelsea are aware of Barcelona’s financial difficulties and believes the La Liga club may consider selling him to improve their situation.
