Atletico Madrid have reportedly “explored” the possibility of signing Inter Milan midfielder Marcelo Brozovic.
The Croatia international, who has previously been linked with a move to Arsenal, has scored three goals and provided five assists in 26 appearances in all competitions for Nerazzurri this season.
According to Diario AS, Atletico manager Diego Simeone views the 25-year-old midfielder as the long-term replacement for Gabi, and will ask his management to push ahead with a move in the summer transfer window.
Brozovic joined the Italian outfit from Dinamo Zagreb in 2015, and has since gone on to make more than 100 appearances in all competitions.
Atleti will fly to arch-rivals Real Madrid for La Liga action on Sunday afternoon looking to maintain their second position in the table.
