Newcastle United are reportedly ready to lock horns with Borussia Dortmund over the signature of Hugo Ekitike from Reims.
The 20-year-old forward has caught the eye of a number of clubs after enjoying a successful season in the French top flight, contributing nine goals in 23 appearances for the club this term.
It has been reported that Manchester United were about to make an inquiry for the Frenchman, but a recent report reveals that the Magpies and BVB are involved in a two-horse race.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Newcastle United are closely monitoring the situation around the 20-year-old striker, and they are interested in signing him in the summer transfer window.

However, the German outfit Dortmund are also credited with an interest, as they look to replace Erling Braut Haaland, who agreed to join Manchester City.
Ekitike possesses a contract with the Ligue 1 side until the end of the 2023-24 campaign.
