Lille centre-back Sven Botman is reportedly the subject of interest from Newcastle United.
Despite some injury woes, the Dutchman has scored one goal from 15 appearances in all competitions this season.
The 21-year-old supposedly attracted the attention of Liverpool over the summer, but he decided to remain with Les Dogues and has established himself a key player since Jocelyn Gourvennec’s appointment.
However, The Guardian claims that the Magpies are now plotting a January move for the centre-back, but they face a battle to prise him away from the Ligue 1 champions.
The report goes on to claim that Lille are prepared to demand as much as £40m for the youngster.
Botman possesses a contract until 2025.
