Manchester United have reportedly “explored” the possibility of signing Odion Ighalo on a permanent deal this summer, according to The Daily Mail.
The 30-year-old striker has impressed for the Red Devils since his arrival from the Chinese outfit Shanghai Shenhua, finding the back of the net on four occasions in his first eight appearances.
The Nigeria international joined United on a six-month loan in January, but the 20-time English champions are said to be making plans to bring the highly-rated forward to Old Trafford on a permanent basis.
Ighalo’s loan deal at Old Trafford is set to expire in May, and his parent club Shanghai Shenhua have set a £15 million price tag on the frontman.
The report adds United may have to negotiate an extension for the former Watford man’s contract.
Ighalo contributed 39 goals in 99 appearances for the Hornets between 2014 and 2017.
