Manchester City are rumoured to be on the verge of signing Velez Sarsfield’s highly-rated young player Maximo Perrone.
At the age of just 19, the defensive midfielder has already become a crucial player for Velez Sarsfield, appearing frequently in both the Primera Division and the Copa Libertadores.
Perrone is reportedly in demand, with his contract set to expire in a year and interest from clubs such as the Premier League champions Manchester City.
While Newcastle United, Wolverhampton Wanderers, and Benfica have all been mentioned as potential suitors, the Citizens are now expected to secure Perrone’s signature.
According to Ole, City are close to finalising a deal for the Argentine in the mid-season transfer window, and will activate the $9m release clause in his contract to secure his services.
The report suggests that the midfielder will join Pep Guardiola’s squad and be evaluated during the second half of the 2022-23 season before the club decides on a loan move for the following campaign.
Since making his professional debut for Velez in March, Perrone has appeared in 33 games across all competitions, contributing three goals and two assists.
