Liverpool have got themselves in pole position in the race for Celta Vigo’s talented young midfielder Gabri Veiga, whose release clause is valued at €40 million.
According to TEAMtalk, the Reds appears to be leading the race against Real Madrid for the signing of Veiga.
The Merseyside giants are in a favourable position to secure the services of the 20-year-old midfielder and are willing to meet his release clause of €40 million, unlike Real Madrid.
Veiga has emerged as one of the most promising young midfielders in the world this season. He graduated from Celta Vigo’s academy a few years ago and made his first-team debut in 2020.
He has contributed nine goals and four assists in 36 appearances across all competitions this season. His impressive development has attracted the attention of several top clubs, including Liverpool and Real Madrid, who have become familiar rivals in the transfer market.
Recent reports suggest that Los Blancos will soon make an offer to sign the 20-year-old midfielder during the summer transfer window. However, they are not willing to activate his €40 million release clause. Instead, the La Liga giants plans to submit a €30 million bid and loan Veiga out for the 2023/24 season.
Liverpool are currently leading the race to sign the talented Spanish playmaker this summer. Liverpool’s interest in Veiga is understandable, especially with the impending departures of James Milner, Naby Keita, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain as free agents from Anfield.
