Chelsea to launch £20m N’Golo Kante release clause

Chelsea have reportedly begun discussions with Leicester City to sign N’Golo Kanté this summer.

The west London outfit are prepared to trigger the £20 million release clause in the 25-year-old midfielder’s contract after he impressed with France at Euro 2016 tournament.

The France international was one of the key performers of the Foxes’ title-winning side last season, with his stunning skills reportedly drawing interest from the likes of Manchester United, Arsenal and Real Madrid.

He has a £20m release clause in his current contract at the King Power Stadium, although the Premier League champions can still sell him to the highest bidder.

The Telegraph reports that Chinese club Shanghai SIPG have offered the English champions £35m for Kante’s services, which means that other suitors may have to raise their bid accordingly.

The Blues must now negotiate a fee with Claudio Ranieri’s side, although it is understood that they are unwilling to match Shanghai’s recent £35m offer.

Kante has ruled out staying at the King Power Stadium by turning down a lucrative deal, and now it remains to be seen, which includes other Premier League rivals Manchester United and Arsenal as well, to make a move for his signature.
