Manchester United forward Robin van Persie scored twice as the Red Devils climbed up to third place in the Premier League with 28 points after a 2-1 victory against Southampton at St Mary’s.
The 31 year old Dutchman gave the lead in the 12th minute, but the Saints equalised through Italian striker Graziano Pelle in 31st minute.
However, Van Persie guided in Rooney’s deep free-kick in the 71st minute to earn United’s fifth successive Premier League win.

Big away win for United in the context of their season. Can’t see them getting in the title race this year but definitely CL places.

What a great result for Manchester United. Most pleasing thing is the fact that recently when not playing well they still grind out a win

I suspect, and history may back me up on this, that Louis Van Gaal knows what he’s doing.
