Sunderland sign Chelsea defender Papy Djilobodji

Sunderland have completed the signing of Chelsea centre-back Papy Djilobodji in an £8m deal.

The Senegal international, who can also play as a defensive midfielder has put pen to a paper on a four-year deal at the Stadium of Light.

The 27-year-old started his career in Senegal with ASC Saloum, has played the majority of his time in France with Nantes, before moving to the west London last summer.

He spent the second half of last season on loan at the Bundesliga outfit Werder Bremen, scoring twice in 14 appearances.

Djilobodji becomes David Moyes’s first signing as club’s manager since being appointed two weeks ago.
