Stoke Eye Hamburg Defender Michael Mancienne

According to the reports in The Mirror, Stoke City are planning a move to sign Bundesliga defender Michael Mancienne from Hamburg in January transfer window.

The English footballer, who can also play as a fullback as he showed during multiple loan spell at Championship side Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The report claims, Stoke manager Mark Hughes is keen to bring the 25-year-old at Britannia Stadium on a loan deal, as the Potters does not have enough funds to afford him on a full time basis.

With the signing of Mancienne, it would be great boost for Stoke City due to his multiple defence positions (centre back and fullback).

The midfielder started his career with Chelsea in 2006, managed only five appearances for the Blues in six year, and then he moved to season long loan to Queens Park Rangers and Wolverhampton Wanderers.
After serving five years of loan spell – Mancienne joined German side Hamburg in 2011 on a four-year deal, since then he has made 37 appearances so far.
