Jose Mourinho has wasted no time making his mark at Real Madrid, and his latest target is tipped to be Borussia Dortmund midfielder Felix Nmecha — with Premier League heavyweights Manchester United and Manchester City also lurking in the background.

Mourinho Keen on German Starlet

According to Sky Sport Germany, Mourinho has made initial enquiries over Nmecha’s availability and contractual situation. The Portuguese boss, who returned to the Bernabeu looking to end Madrid’s two-year trophy drought and dethrone Hansi Flick’s Barcelona, is said to be highly enthusiastic about the 25-year-old.

Los Blancos have already moved swiftly in the market, confirming the signing of Marc Cucurella from Chelsea, with deals for Bernardo Silva, Denzel Dumfries, and Ibrahima Konaté reportedly closing in. Nmecha would add further quality and depth to what is shaping up to be a formidable midfield.

The Nmecha Problem: He’s Not for Sale

Here’s where it gets complicated. Dortmund hold all the cards right now. Nmecha signed a lucrative extension keeping him at Signal Iduna Park until 2030, and his release clause of €70m (£60.5m) doesn’t activate until summer 2027.

Since arriving from Wolfsburg for €30m in 2023, Nmecha has made 112 appearances for BVB, chipping in with 13 goals and eight assists. He’s also become a regular for Julian Nagelsmann’s Germany, scoring in their 7-1 World Cup thrashing of Curacao.

Verdict

Dortmund have no intention of selling, and the 2027 clause means Madrid can’t force the issue this summer. Unless someone makes an extraordinary offer impossible to refuse, Nmecha stays put — for now.
