The Bayern Munich captain Philipp Lahm has revealed his intention to retire from football in 2018.
The 31-year-old, who called time on his international career last summer after guided Germany to World Cup glory in Brazil, announced his plans for retirement.
The defender-turned-midfielder has won seven Bundesliga titles, six DFB-Pokal crowns and the Champions League during his time with the Bavarians.
“Once again, it is most clear to me that I am going to finish [my career] in 2018,” the German World Cup winning skipper told Sport Bild.
“It’s good for me to be able to prepare for a definite date.”
Lahm has played over 400 games for the Bundesliga champions to date.
