Newcastle United to reignite interest in Darwin Nunez

Newcastle United are reportedly prepared to up their efforts to secure a deal for Benfica forward Darwin Nunez, according to a report.

The 22-year-old striker has been impressive for the Portuguese outfit this team, helping them into the quarter-finals of the Champions League, and has earned plenty of plaudits with his performances.

The Magpies brought in several players during the mid-season transfer window earlier this year which have helped them push away from the relegation zone, and that is why Eddie Howe’s side is now focusing on potential new faces for the summer.

According to inews, the Tyneside outfit are in the race to sign Nunez this summer, although there are other clubs said to be interested in the Uruguyan, including Manchester United.

Benfica have put a £50m price tag on him, but it is expected it would take another £10m to sell him, which Newcastle United can afford.
