Newcastle United keeping tabs on Hugo Ekitike

Newcastle United have reportedly placed emphasis on signing Reims teenager Hugo Ekitike in the summer transfer window.

The Magpies had their bids to sign the 19-year-old forward rejected in January, but that has not put the Magpies off continuing to try and buy him.

The Frenchman has made 21 of Reims’s 30 Ligue 1 appearances, contributing nine goals during the process.

According to Football Insider, Newcastle United are still looking at the centre-forward, and he is said to be their number one target to try and sign in the summer market.

The Ligue 1 side are reportedly valuing Ekitike at £25m, and the Premier League club are reportedly leading the situation to buy him.

Newcastle want to bring in more competition to their forward options, with the North East outfit currently having Callum Wilson and Chris Wood as their primarily options in that position.
