Newcastle United considering Kieran Tierney loan swoop

Newcastle United are reportedly aiming to rekindle their interest in Arsenal’s Kieran Tierney, eyeing a season-long loan for the Scottish defender before the transfer window closes.

Despite notable signings like Sandro Tonali, Harvey Barnes, and Valentino Livramento, the Magpies still seek depth in central defence and left-back positions. Marc Cucurella and Kieran Tierney are potential solutions.

Tierney appears to be Howe’s preferred choice. The defender faced setbacks last season, losing his starting spot to Oleksandr Zinchenko due to injuries and form issues, making only six Premier League starts. Left out of Arsenal’s squad for the season opener, Tierney’s departure from Emirates seems imminent.

Newcastle are contemplating a loan offer with a potential obligation to purchase next summer. Arsenal previously rejected a loan bid from Real Sociedad, expressing a preference for a sale. However, if suitable buyers are lacking, a loan deal with a guaranteed fee after a year might be considered.
