Manchester City are leading the race to sign Liverpool forward Raheem Sterling this summer, according to the Daily Mail.
However Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers insisted that he expects Sterling to stay at the Merseyside club for the remainder of the two years on his contract.
The 20-year-old’s future at Anfield is becoming increasingly unstable. His agent, Aidy Ward said that the player would not sign a new contract ‘for 900,000 per week’.
City, however, looking for the world class forward to reshape their squad for next season and will look to raid for the England international to secure his services to bring him at the Etihad this summer, where he could expect £120,000 weekly wages.
The report has suggested that a host of Premier League clubs – Arsenal and Chelsea are also interested in Sterling’s signature, but it is doubtful they could compete with City’s financial figure, which could be beyond £80million after calculating his transfer fee and weekly wages .
