Manchester City to launch £40m for Kevin De Bruyne

Manchester City are reportedly set to break their transfer record by launching an official move for Wolfsburg starlet Kevin De Bruyne worth around £40m, according to The Telegraph.

The former Chelsea ace has been strongly linked with a move to the Etihad Stadium this summer as manager Manuel Pellegrini aim to bolster his squad with youngsters, which has so far seen Raheem Sterling from Liverpool, Patrick Roberts from Fulham and Fabian Delph from Aston Villa.

The Belgium international is ideally City’s next target, and report claims that the club are negotiating a deal with the Bundesliga outfit.

However, Wolfsburg don’t want to sell the 24-year-old midfielder, whose contract with the German club is valid until June 2019 and value him at around £57m.

It has been reported that the club management confirming that they are willing to accept an improved bid and new contract as per De Bruyne’s performances.

Manchester City will begin their Premier League campaign away at West Bromwich Albion on Monday, 10th August.
