Manchester United are reportedly set their sights to sign young Brazilian forward Gabriel Barbosa this summer.
The Red Devils have already spent a reported £160 million on new signings this summer so far – including a world-record deal for Paul Pogba – and the club is now considering to part with another £30m in order to lure the South American to Old Trafford.
The 19-year-old currently playing with Santos and has impressed with his displays for the Brazil national team at the Rio Olympics.
Number of European clubs have been linked with signing Barbosa this summer – including the reigning Premier League champions Leicester City, Inter Milan, Juventus, Bayern Munich, Atletico Madrid. However, Manchester United are in pole position to sign him before the transfer window shuts down.
The 20-time English champions are said to have offered Santos £26m upfront, with a further £4m commission for his agent, and are hopeful of finalising the deal over the next 48 hours.
United boss Jose Mourinho is thought to view Barbosa as an ideal backup for club’s No. 9 Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who followed the Portuguese to Old Trafford on a free transfer this summer.
