Liverpool have signed Georginio Wijnaldum from Newcastle United on a five-year deal, that will keep him at the Anfield until 2021.
The 25-year-old joins the Merseyside outfit for an undisclosed fee, reported to be £25m, having failed to avoid the Magpies from relegation zone to the Championship last season.
The Dutchman, who will fly out to join the Reds’ squad on their pre-season tour of the USA, scored 11 times in 38 appearances during his maiden season in the English Premier League.
“I’m really excited because Liverpool is a big club with a great history and it’s always a dream to play for as big a club as Liverpool.” He told the club’s official website.
“[Jurgen Klopp seems] a great man – from the outside – because I don’t know how he works yet and I have to work with him.
“[But] I always love to watch him, his passion as a trainer, I like how he enjoys the game. He gives something back to the group [with his passion] so I look forward to working with him.”
