Estevao Willian Has No Plans to Leave Chelsea Despite Transfer Speculation
Chelsea have received encouraging news on Estevao Willian, with the teenager reportedly determined to stay at Stamford Bridge rather than push for a move away.

Estevao Content to Wait for Xabi Alonso Opportunity
According to Football Insider, the 19-year-old remains fully committed to the Blues despite being linked elsewhere. He has managed only 23 minutes of Premier League football this season, yet is reportedly relaxed and ready to bide his time under Xabi Alonso.
The Brazil international is highly regarded in west London. He currently sits behind Joao Pedro, Cole Palmer and Morgan Rogers, while Alonso’s preference for wing-backs has limited his chances, although he has featured in a more advanced midfield role in both Carabao Cup games.
Joao Pedro Injury Opens Door at Stamford Bridge
Pedro’s injury, expected to sideline him until around mid-October, could open a route into the starting line-up. Regular minutes rather than cameo appearances are precisely what Estevao needs.
He contributed eight goals and three assists last season after joining from Palmeiras for £29million, and Chelsea have no intention of selling. Alonso reportedly sees him as part of his long-term plans. A hamstring problem that ruled him out of the World Cup has also delayed his progress.
Why Patience Could Pay Off for Estevao
In my view, a lack of starts does not mean a player has fallen out of favour. Chelsea’s attacking options are deep, and Alonso’s system has complicated matters for the youngster.
Estevao’s ability to receive the ball between the lines and take on defenders offers variety the squad could need as the campaign develops. The question is no longer whether he can force his way out, but whether he can force his way into Alonso’s plans. Given a proper run of games, I suspect the conversation around his future would change rapidly, and supporters who have seen little of him so far would welcome that.
