Aston Villa in talks to sign Brazilian star Gabriel Sara from Galatasaray

Aston Villa have opened talks to sign Galatasaray midfielder Gabriel Sara, with Unai Emery keen to bolster his midfield options ahead of the new season.

According to Foot Mercato, the 26-year-old Brazilian has emerged as a prime target for the Villans this summer. Villa are reportedly pushing ahead in negotiations as they aim to add creativity and depth to their squad following an impressive 2023/24 Premier League campaign.

Sara Impresses in Turkey

Gabriel Sara only joined Galatasaray from Norwich City last summer but has quickly become one of the standout performers in the Turkish Super Lig. His debut season was nothing short of impressive — with 10 assists and 2 goals across 45 appearances in all competitions, Sara showcased his vision, versatility, and knack for unlocking defences.

The former Championship playmaker has caught the eye of several clubs across Europe, but it’s Aston Villa who are moving fastest to secure his services. His technical ability and Premier League experience make him an ideal candidate for Emery’s evolving midfield.

Villa Eye Midfield Reinforcements

With Boubacar Kamara sidelined through injury and Youri Tielemans needing support in the centre of the park, Emery wants to bring in reinforcements. Sara fits the profile — a hard-working, forward-thinking midfielder with the versatility to operate in several roles.

Interestingly, Aston Villa and Galatasaray are also involved in separate discussions over Emiliano Martinez and Lucas Digne, whom the Turkish side are keen to sign. However, club sources insist that these negotiations are not linked, and Sara will not be part of any swap deal.

Back to England?

A return to England could be on the cards for Gabriel Sara — this time with European football on the horizon. If a deal is reached, Villa would be landing a midfielder in his prime, with proven productivity and a hunger to succeed at a higher level.
