AS Roma eyeing up a move for Trevoh Chalobah

AS Roma have reportedly set their sights on a deal for Chelsea centre-back Trevoh Chalobah, according to Calcio Mercato.

The 23-year-old has emerged as one of the top academy products of Chelsea’s Cobham academy, playing regularly in the team along with Reece James, Conor Gallagher, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, and Mason Mount.

Chalobah has been deployed in various defensive positions this season, demonstrating his versatility. In his last two games, he played as a right-back and performed admirably.

However, with James’ return and Chelsea’s rumoured interest in other high-profile centre-backs for a summer transfer, Chalobah’s long-term future with the club may be in jeopardy, despite signing a long-term contract until 2028.

There have been reports of the Blues considering a part-exchange deal with Inter Milan for Denzel Dumfries, and other Italian teams have shown interest in Chalobah. While it would be ideal for the Englishman to continue playing in the Premier League, he may have to consider a move to Italy, which also has its advantages.

While AC Milan has shown interest in Chalobah, playing under Jose Mourinho at AS Roma may be more appealing to the centre-back.

Although Chelsea could demand a substantial fee for the defender, Roma may be able to negotiate a deal with the West Londoners.
