Saudi Pro League club Al-Ittihad are actively pursuing a deal to acquire 27-year-old West Ham United defender Nayef Aguerd.
The Middle East outfit, led by Karim Benzema, aims to bolster its defence before the Saudi Pro League’s transfer window closes.
Al-Ittihad have already made significant transfer moves during this window, signing top talents such as Karim Benzema and N’Golo Kante.
However, they remain committed to further strengthening their squad and have been linked to Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah, though a recent £150 million offer was rejected.
Now, their focus is on Nayef Aguerd, who joined West Ham for £30 million last summer. The Moroccan defender has excelled in England, contributing to the Hammers’ UEFA Conference League victory and Morocco’s historic FIFA World Cup 2022 semi-final run.
While there’s no firm agreement in place, Al-Ittihad are determined to secure Aguerd’s services while he’s at the peak of his career. They aim to finalise a deal before their transfer window closes on September 7, which could provide Nuno Espirito Santo’s team with a valuable addition to their squad.
