The German star Thomas Mueller scored a brilliant hat-trick in an impressive 4-0 victory over Portugal during their opening World Cup Group G match on Monday.
The Germans delivered a stunning attacking performance throughout the game.
In the 12th minute, the 24-year-old Mueller, who was elected as man of the match smashed the first goal from the penalty spot.
Dortmund defender Mats Hummels scored the second goal on 32 minutes.
Just before the first-half stoppage-time, Mueller scored again with a comfortable 3-0 lead and the final goal was scored in the 78th minute when the Bayern Munich forward Muller completed his hat-trick.
However the Portugal struggled to convert their chances. The Portuguese captain Cristiano Ronaldo, who played the full 90 minutes – didn’t put much impact on the German defence.
