EPL Preview: Manchester City vs. Sunderland at Stadium of Light

The reigning Premier League champions Manchester City has increased their odds of catching the league leaders Chelsea on the weekend with a stunning 3-0 victory over Southampton at St Mary’s Stadium, while Sunderland has held Chelsea to a goalless draw at their home ground.

Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini will be hopeful of victory if the defence department perform well over the Christmas period.

No Doubt – Sergio Aguero, 26, will be a key player to watch when the champions arrive at the Stadium of Light on Wednesday evening.

However, the Citizens may have to face the Black Cats without their captain Vincent Kompany after the Belgian limped off during the game against Southampton.

His absence could be a huge blow for Pellegrini’s side. In addition to this the City will be without the services of Eliaquim Mangala, who was suspended due to the red card on Sunday.

Sunderland boss Gus Poyet won’t be changing the squad as the Black Cats are unbeaten in their previous four games. They will be hopeful of taking advantage of their home ground, who showed impressive fought against the leaders on Saturday.
