Newcastle are reportedly to be in talks with Manchester City star Abdisalam Ibrahim when the window re-opens.
The 22-year-old has been told that he is free to leave the Etihad Stadium ahead of the January Transfer Window and the Premier League club Newcastle are keen to sign him.
The Norwegian midfielder is currently on loan with Stromsgodset
“I think it is speculation,” stated Stromsgodset sports director Jostein Flo to VG. “I will have a meeting with (Manchester) City in two or three weeks and then we will probably hear more.
“He is on loan with us until the end of the year, but we would like to keep him.”
The Magpies would also face competition from Crystal Palace, Everton and newly formed club Hull for the player’s signature.
