Man United lead race for Franco Mastantuono

Manchester United have stepped up their pursuit of highly-rated Argentine midfielder Franco Mastantuono, emerging as the club with the “most interest” in the 17-year-old sensation ahead of the summer transfer window.

According to Sport via Sport Witness, the Red Devils are tracking Mastantuono’s progress closely, with River Plate firm on their €45 million release clause. The Buenos Aires-based club won’t entertain negotiations—only a full payout will bring their teenage gem to Europe.

The competition, however, is fierce. European heavyweights Real Madrid and Barcelona have been long-time admirers, while Premier League rivals Arsenal, Chelsea, and Liverpool are all actively scouting the dynamic midfielder. Still, it’s United who appear the most committed to sealing a deal.

Mastantuono has been on the radar of top clubs since last summer and continues to draw attention with his composure, vision, and technical quality far beyond his years. Despite being just 17, his maturity on the pitch has made him one of South America’s most sought-after prospects.

United view Mastantuono as a long-term investment, but financial considerations could complicate the move. With Old Trafford’s rebuild ongoing, it’s unclear whether the club will sanction a €45m outlay this summer—or bide their time for another year.

One thing’s certain: if Manchester United don’t move quickly, they risk losing out on one of football’s brightest rising stars.
