The 45-year-old Spaniard, who is the current manager of German champions Bayern Munich, will replace Manuel Pellegrini when the Chilean’s contract expires on 30 June.
The charismatic Guardiola have won 14 titles with Barcelona, including the Champions League title in 2009 and 2011.
Meanwhile, Manchester United fans took to Twitter to express their unhappiness towards the Glazer family.
Guardiola announced to City is great. It’s ramps up pressure on Woodward massively. Perfect.
