Juventus are reportedly preparing to step up their pursuit of Crystal Palace defender Tyrick Mitchell, with an offer said to be on the way before the January transfer window opens.

Why Juventus Want Tyrick Mitchell

According to Italian outlet Calciomercato, the Serie A club are ready to make their move for the 27-year-old. Mitchell’s contract situation and top-flight pedigree have made him an appealing target, and Juventus have a clear vacancy to fill on the left side of defence.

Andrea Cambiaso is sidelined with an ankle problem, while Juan Cabal has slipped out of Luciano Spalletti’s plans. Sporting directors Giovanni Manna and Damien Comolli are therefore said to be searching for reinforcements, and Mitchell’s two-way ability has reportedly caught their eye.

The England international has racked up more than 200 league appearances for Palace. He is comfortable as a traditional full-back but also capable of playing higher up as a wing-back, giving Spalletti tactical flexibility.

Liverpool and Manchester United Also Interested

Juventus are not alone. Liverpool are reportedly monitoring the situation, with Milos Kerkez yet to consistently impress since his arrival at Anfield. Another proven Premier League left-back could offer welcome competition.

Manchester United are also said to be keeping tabs. Luke Shaw’s deal at Old Trafford expires in 2027, so succession planning is a genuine consideration. Mitchell’s familiarity with English football would make him an easier signing than a developmental prospect.

Could Mitchell Adapt to Serie A?

In my view, Mitchell’s attributes should travel well. His recovery pace, strength in one-on-one duels and willingness to get forward suit the demands of Italian football, where full-backs must contribute in both phases.

This looks like a practical signing for Juventus rather than a headline-grabbing one, and that is no bad thing. Solving a real squad problem often matters more than adding a big name.

I also think Juventus are right to move early. Should Liverpool and United table concrete offers in January, Palace’s bargaining position would strengthen considerably, and Mitchell’s price could climb accordingly. For the Bianconeri, speed may prove the deciding factor.
