Aston Villa midfielder Jack Grealish has committed his long-term future to the club after signing a new five-year contract that promises to keep him at Villa Park until 2023, the Sky Bet Championship club have announced.
The Englishman was a summer transfer target for Tottenham Hotspur, who reportedly offered £25m to land him, but Villa’s new owners Nassef Sawiris and Wes Edens were reluctant to sell.
Grealish, 23, has been at Villa since the age of eight and his new contract ties him to the Midlands club until 2023, ending any lingering speculations at the club that he may leave in January.
Delighted to have a signed a new 5 year contract with this brilliant club. Time to kick on now & hopefully achieve what we’ve always set out to do. #AVFC pic.twitter.com/bOJtsBua9e
