Everton keen on United striker

Everton are plotting a summer swoop for Manchester United striker Danny Welbeck as an alternative to Romelu Lukaku, according to The Express.

Everton wants to keep hold of the on-loan Blues star Lukaku ahead of the summer transfer window, but rumours suggest that Chelsea are desperate to bring in their Belgian striker to Stamford Bridge at the end of the season, as a result the Toffees are looking at alternatives.

Reports emerged last weekend that Welbeck has grown disillusioned at Old Trafford and the England international is likely to leave the club in order to play more regularly.

Everton manager Roberto Martinez looks for the strong finisher addition to his squad for the Champions League qualification next season, and Welbeck seems to be the ideal option at Goodison Park.

However, the 23-year-old is likely to be valued at around £20m, which could be too much for Everton.

But, it is pretty clear that If Everton cannot agree a permanent deal for Lukaku, then Martinez could surely move for Welbeck.
