Everton Eye January Move for Juventus Flop Teun Koopmeiners

Toffees Keep Tabs on Dutchman

Everton are reportedly still keen on Juventus midfielder Teun Koopmeiners as the January window approaches. Football Insider claims the Merseyside club have continued to monitor the 28-year-old after being strongly linked with him in the summer.

Juventus are said to be open to offers, either permanent or loan, while the Netherlands international is willing to leave Turin.

Struggles at Juventus

Koopmeiners arrived from Atalanta in 2024 in a deal worth around £46 million, but his time in Italy has fallen short of expectations. He has played only 131 minutes of Serie A football this season, making a winter exit increasingly likely.

Competition in Everton’s Midfield

David Moyes already has plenty of options. James Garner, Harrison Armstrong and Hayden Hackney have all started the campaign well, while Christian Norgaard is nearing a return from injury.

What Koopmeiners Could Offer

Even so, experience could count in his favour. The Dutchman has made over 160 Serie A appearances and 24 in the Champions League.

His final season at Atalanta in 2023/24 brought 22 goals and assists in all competitions, despite playing deeper. That output shows what he could offer if he rediscovers his best form.

Garner Situation Adds Intrigue

Rival clubs are reportedly monitoring Garner, so Koopmeiners could provide valuable cover should his future become uncertain. Juventus, meanwhile, would limit their losses on an expensive signing.

Our Take

A loan with an option to buy looks sensible. Everton would gain a proven performer without major financial risk, and Koopmeiners would get the regular football he needs. Whether he can recapture his Atalanta form in England is the big question.
