Chelsea to launch last-minute bid for Tosin Adarabioyo

Chelsea have launched a late bid to hijack Newcastle United’s pursuit of Fulham defender Tosin Adarabioyo.

According to HITC, the Blues have approached the 26-year-old, who is set to leave Craven Cottage on a free transfer this summer.

Adarabioyo’s tenure at Manchester City may not have panned out as hoped, but his move to Fulham revitalised his career. Despite a difficult start to the 2023/24 season due to injuries, he returned to become a pivotal figure in the Cottagers’ defence.

Newcastle United, grappling with injuries to key defenders Jamaal Lascelles and Sven Botman, have been long-term admirers of Adarabioyo.

Eddie Howe’s side has been in discussions with the player’s camp, confident of bolstering their defensive ranks with his acquisition. However, Chelsea’s recent involvement has added a layer of complexity to the situation.

Chelsea, facing defensive uncertainties with Thiago Silva’s departure and Trevoh Chalobah’s uncertain future, see Adarabioyo as an ideal addition.

As the transfer window heats up, the battle between Chelsea and Newcastle for Adarabioyo’s services is set to be a fascinating subplot.
