Chelsea favourites to win this year’s Premier League

Making a comeback seems to be the theme for this season’s Chelsea squad as it’s been confirmed that both Romelu Lukaku and, more recently, Didier Drogba, will be returning for the Premier League.

After a huge revamping with Mourinho sparing no expense, the team are now favourites to win the Premier League with odds of 7/4. Among the new talent signed for Chelsea are former La Liga champions Diego Costa and Filipe Luis, who both helped Atlético Madrid secure the Spanish title last year. Mourinho has also signed up former Arsenal star Cesc Fabregas, who had a stunning eight-year record with the team and will surely make for entertaining viewing as he takes on his former teammates.

But Mourinho will not be faced with an easy task as he approaches the Premier League this season – many of his biggest competitors have also made some key changes, with Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United all giving him quite a challenge.

Arsenal – 6/1

It took Wenger a while but he has finally made some key transfers which could rid him of his “fourth place” reputation once and for all – namely, Alexis Sanchez, the Chilean star who’s got massive potential. In tandem with Mathieu Debuchy, these two key changes could turn the team’s fates around, and it’s also rumoured that they could be signing Southampton star Calum Chambers.

Liverpool – 10/1

They may have lost Luis Suárez to Barcelona, but Liverpool have made some interesting transfers this year to make sure they don’t get pipped at the post by Manchester City once again. Young talent Rickie Lambert and Adam Lallana have both joined from Southampton, while Emre Can, star of Bayer Leverkusen, has recently been signed and is already showing huge potential.

Manchester City – 12/5

Manchester City have a lot to live up to this year if they’re to win the title again, and it could be argued that new goalkeepers are defenders are not needed. However, manager Manuel Pellegrini has signed goalkeeper Willy Caballero along with Fernando and Eliaquim Mangala – let’s just hope that it’s not a case of fixing what isn’t broken.

Manchester United – 5/1

After a truly shocking season last year, the Red Devils are back with a new manager and have already signed promising talent Luke Shaw and Ander Herrera. However, it’s rumoured that the new manager is keen to make ten potential changes, with Arturo Vidal and Angel Di Maria both in the pipeline for the suffering team.
