Barcelona are reportedly considering a late move to sign 26-year-old full-back Pervis Estupinan from Brighton & Hove Albion.
The Catalan giants are in need of a left-back to cover for the absence of Alejandro Balde and have set their sights on Estupinan, who has impressed at Brighton since joining from Villarreal in August 2022.
The Ecuadorian, who had a previous stint in England with Watford, has become one of the Premier League’s standout full-backs, contributing with four goals and 11 assists in over 50 appearances for Brighton. Despite previous links to Liverpool, Barcelona sees him as a potential solution to their left-back issues.
The reigning La Liga champions have faced challenges in the 2023/24 season, with key players, including first-choice left-back Alejandro Balde, sidelined due to injuries. Financial Fair Play constraints may pose a hurdle, but Barcelona are actively identifying targets, with Estupinan emerging as a late January transfer window option.
Brighton & Hove Albion, however, may be reluctant to entertain offers for Estupinan, considering their participation in multiple competitions.
The Seagulls are likely to prioritise retaining their key players for a successful conclusion to the 2023/24 season. It remains to be seen whether Barcelona’s late pursuit will be successful in securing the services of the talented full-back.
