Arsenal retain interest in Douglas Luiz

Arsenal still hold an interest in signing Douglas Luiz from Aston Villa.

Mikel Arteta’s side were heavily linked with the 24-year-old on transfer deadline day, and it is believed that the club had at least two offers for the midfielder turned down.

The Gunners are believed to be planning to be active at the beginning of 2023, and according to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Luiz remains a prime target for the North Londoners.

Luiz has a deal at Villa until June 2023, and manager Steven Gerrard recently said that ‘nothing had changed’ regarding a potential extension.

The Brazilian has scored two goals for Villa this season, while he has contributed seven goals and eight assists in 119 matches for the Midlands club since arriving from Manchester City in 2019.
