Newcastle United have submitted an interest in AS Roma midfielder Nicolo Zaniolo.
Corriere Dello Sport reports that the Magpies are planning to make a move for the 23-year-old in the summer. The midfielder had an underwhelming season and may be open to a new opportunity.
Newcastle continues to dominate in the Premier League, winning against all opponents they face. The English side are determined to secure a spot in the Champions League.
Zaniolo is currently recovering from the flu but he could be fit for Roma’s match with Spezia on the weekend.
The Italy international has been seeking a contract with an annual salary of €4m, and Newcastle are willing to offer him more than that.
After losing Mykhaylo Mudryk to Chelsea, Arsenal can now redirect their efforts to Zaniolo who is a different type of player. The former Inter Milan academy graduate seems destined for a big move in the near future, and the Gunners could be the team to acquire him.
However, Newcastle United are currently in the lead for Zaniolo’s signature and a transfer could take place next summer.
